Railway staff reach stations by bus in advance, catch 328 ticketless travellers, recover Rs 2.79 lakh
Ferozepur, October 12, 2026: In a special ticket-checking drive aimed at curbing ticketless and irregular travel, the Firozpur Division of Northern Railway detected 328 passengers travelling without tickets or with irregular tickets and recovered Rs 2,78,835 in railway revenue.
The drive was conducted through a bus raid on the Firozpur Cantt–Jalandhar City section under the directions of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Basant Kumar. A joint team of railway ticket-checking staff and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) carried out surprise checks at various stations, on trains and within station premises.
Under the bus raid operation, ticket-checking teams travelled by bus to different locations along the section, enabling them to reach stations in advance and conduct coordinated checks on passing trains. The operation was aimed at discouraging ticketless travel, ensuring compliance with railway ticketing rules and protecting legitimate railway revenue.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Basant Kumar said such special drives were being conducted to effectively curb ticketless and irregular travel and promote disciplined travel practices. He appealed to passengers to purchase valid tickets before boarding trains and cooperate with railway staff during checking.
The Firozpur Rail Division said special ticket-checking drives would continue in the coming days to deter unauthorised travel, safeguard railway revenue and improve the travel experience for genuine passengers.
The Firozpur Rail Division had also conducted a bus raid at Kotkapura and Moga railway stations on August 25, 2026, detecting 200 passengers and recovering Rs 1,12,400. Separately, its September-wide ticket-checking campaign detected 22,855 cases and recovered over Rs 2 crore.
