Chandigarh, October 17, 2026: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will launch a statewide yatra on November 10 from Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo, with party president Sukhbir Singh Badal leading the campaign across all Assembly constituencies in Punjab.
The yatra will be organised in three phases. The first phase will run from November 10 to 22, while the second phase will begin from Sri Anandpur Sahib and the third from Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The announcement followed a series of meetings chaired by Sukhbir Singh Badal with the party’s Scheduled Caste, Backward Class and Youth wings to gather feedback on issues to be included in the party’s election manifesto and discuss ways to strengthen the organisation.
Senior SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the feedback received from the three wings would be considered at the next meeting of the party’s manifesto committee on October 24. He added that the manifesto would be released on November 1.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Sukhbir Badal levelled allegations of corruption against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal. Referring to the arrest of Amardeep Grewal, the brother-in-law of the Chief Minister’s wife, Gurpreet Kaur Mann, Badal alleged that the case would bring alleged corruption linked to the Chief Minister’s residence into the public domain.
Badal also held the Chief Minister responsible for the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota. He criticised the AAP government’s Yudh Nasheyan Virudh campaign, alleging that anti-drug activists and whistleblowers were being targeted instead of the drug menace being effectively addressed.
He also questioned the Chief Minister’s reported efforts to obtain permission to travel to Paris, alleging that Punjab was facing serious challenges and that the state had failed to attract foreign investment despite Mann’s overseas visits.
Badal further alleged that Kejriwal and Mann had prepared a plan to extort industrialists, claiming that they had been divided into two categories involving amounts of ₹2 crore and ₹5 crore. These allegations were made by Badal during his interaction with the media.
The meeting also passed a resolution condemning the murder of Parvinder Singh Jhota and pledged that the SAD would make efforts to secure justice for his family.
SAD Scheduled Caste wing president Gulzar Singh Ranike, Backward Class wing president Hira Singh Gabhriya and Youth wing president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjher were among those present at the meetings.
