Chandigarh, October 18, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon has announced that he will wear a black turban until justice is delivered in the murder case of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota. He began the protest on Sunday, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over what he alleged was its failure to tackle drugs and maintain law and order in the state.
Dhillon had joined a protest seeking justice for Jhota in Mansa on Saturday, where he appealed to people to wear black turbans and dupattas and carry black flags until the family receives justice. Jhota’s father, Bhim Singh, and other protesters accepted his appeal, according to the BJP statement.
Describing the killing as a matter of grave concern, Dhillon said Jhota had been raising his voice against drugs to protect Punjab’s youth.
“This is not merely the murder of Parvinder Singh; it is also a murder of law and order in Punjab,” he said.
Dhillon said the black turban was a symbol of protest against the government’s alleged failure. He called on Punjabis to stand with the bereaved family and said peaceful demonstrations would continue until justice was delivered.
He also said the BJP would support the family and raise the issue at every level.

Dhillon accused the AAP government of attempting to silence those speaking out against drugs instead of addressing the problem. He referred to the cases of Gulzar Singh of Toor Banjara, Parvinder Singh Jhota and Bikramjit Singh of Mari Pannwan village in Gurdaspur while alleging that people who raised concerns about drugs had faced serious consequences.
The BJP leader claimed the government had failed to curb the drug menace and safeguard Punjab’s interests. He demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann take moral responsibility and resign.
Dhillon warned that protests involving black turbans, black dupattas and black flags would continue until justice was secured for Jhota’s family.
The allegations against the state government were made by the BJP leader in the course of his protest.
