Jalalabad (Punjab), October 25, 2026: Former Congress MLA from Jalalabad, Raminder Singh Awla, has joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
Welcoming Awla into the party, SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal said his induction would strengthen the party in Jalalabad and across Punjab’s border belt.
Badal said Jalalabad had given him the opportunity to serve the constituency three times and described it as a region that had witnessed significant development during Akali governments.
Expressing confidence in Awla’s role in the party, Badal said he expected the former MLA to work towards strengthening the Shiromani Akali Dal in the constituency and the wider border region ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
Awla’s joining the SAD comes ahead of the next Assembly elections in Punjab, scheduled for 2027.
