Punjab BJP Chief rejects PPSC clarification on PCS Mains, demands HC-monitored CBI probe
Dhillon calls Commission’s explanation a “self-clean chit”; seeks immediate stay on interviews and forensic audit of examination records

Chandigarh, November 6, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Friday rejected the Punjab Public Service Commission’s (PPSC) clarification on the alleged irregularities in the PCS (Mains) examination results, accusing the Commission of attempting to give itself a “self-clean chit” and shield influential political figures.
Reacting to the PPSC Chairman’s dismissal of the allegations as statistical misinterpretations, Dhillon said an institution facing serious allegations could not be the judge of its own conduct. He demanded an independent investigation into the selection process.
Questioning the pattern of results, Dhillon claimed that 10 to 11 candidates qualifying from a single examination hall, along with clusters of consecutive roll numbers making it through a subjective, descriptive examination, raised serious doubts that could not be dismissed as coincidence.
“If everything was above board, why is the Commission afraid of an independent forensic audit?” he asked, according to a statement issued by the BJP.
Dhillon also linked the PCS controversy to the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Pharmacy Officers, recalling that an interstate cheating racket involving wireless spy devices, hidden pen cameras and real-time dictation had been busted during the recruitment examination. He referred to arrests in the case and subsequent intervention by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Calling the two cases part of what he described as a recurring pattern of compromised recruitment under the Aam Aadmi Party government, Dhillon accused the state government of failing to protect the interests of job aspirants and uphold merit-based selection.
The Punjab BJP chief reiterated the party’s demand for an immediate halt to the disputed PCS selection process and scheduled interviews until an impartial inquiry is completed.
The party also sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged PCS Mains irregularities and recruitment scandals, including the Pharmacist recruitment case, under the supervision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Among its other demands, the BJP called for the public release of centre-wise CCTV footage, biometric timestamps, invigilators’ seating records and evaluated answer sheets for an independent forensic audit.
Dhillon warned that the BJP would take to the streets alongside aggrieved candidates if the government failed to suspend the interview process and order an independent investigation.
The allegations and demands were made by the BJP; the PPSC’s clarification and the findings of any independent inquiry would be necessary to establish whether irregularities occurred.
