Ontario (Canada), April 21, 2026:A suspected hate crime targeting an Indian-origin family has sparked fear among the Punjabi community in Ontario after unidentified attackers set fire to a house and vehicles belonging to a young man from Amritsar.
According to reports, the attackers doused the property of Harpreet Singh with petrol and attempted to torch three vehicles parked outside his residence.
Two of the vehicles were completely destroyed in the blaze. Singh was inside the house at the time of the attack, but the fire was brought under control before it could cause major damage to the home. No injuries were reported.
In a disturbing development, racist graffiti reading “Go Back” was found written on the wall of the house, indicating the attack may have been motivated by hate.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed outside the property. Footage reportedly shows one of the suspects accidentally catching fire during the act. Police have seized the recordings and launched an investigation.
Authorities in Ontario have treated the case as serious, scanning additional surveillance footage from the area to identify the accused.
The incident has triggered concern among the Indian diaspora in Canada, with community members urging strict action against those responsible and calling for enhanced safety measures for immigrants.
