Shahkot Bypoll: AAP Punjab allege removal of security forces, seeks their redeployment
Ludhiana, May 25, 2018: AAP Punjab has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab for redeployment of security forces for Shahkot assembly bypoll to be held on May 28, 2018.
In the written representation, AAP Punjab spokesperson, Jastej Singh said they have brought to the notice of the election authorities the alleged sudden “disappearance” of central security forces, other than the local police, from the constituency since May 24 morning.
On behalf of his party, he requested the election authorities to immediately restore the security forces along with full checks and barriers and proper security arrangements be put in place so as to prevent any kind of corrupt and malpractices during the bypoll.
The AAP Punjab also requested that officials responsible for such security lapse be also identified and suitable action be taken against them.
