Chandigarh, May 28, 2018: The poll percentage touched 76.60 % mark even as the polling was on in the Shahkot assembly bypoll, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab, S Karuna Raju at a press conference at Chandigarh on Monday.
The Shahkot constituency had recorded 78.60 percent voting in 2017 assembly elections.
The CEO said that the election authorities received 43 complaint of illegal liquor, out of which 27 were resolved.
Total 75 litre illegal liquor was seized in the constituency.
He also said that web casting was done at 103 polling stations out of the total 236 in the constituency.
An FIR was registered against Akali leader Brij Bhupinder Singh Lalli. He was arrested on charge of trying to carry his weapon inside a polling station.
He was booked under sections 132,134-B of the Representation of the Peoples Act and 188 of the IPC at Modal Police Station. Shahkot
A complaint was received from Shiromani Akali Dal about presence of a woman Congress leader in a polling station.
Barring a few minor incidents, the polling remained overall peaceful," he added.
