DC orders FIR against 18’officers/ officials for dereliction of poll duty
Directs SDM to submit report regarding other wilful defaulters

Taking cognisance of the dereliction of election duty by officers/ officials who deliberately skipped poll duty today, Deputy Commissioner, Varinder Kumar Sharma today ordered FIR against 18 such officers.
Divulging the Deputy Commissioner said that these officers/ officials were assigned poll duty but they deliberately skipped the duty and didn’t join the polling staff despite of repeated announcements. However, he said that during the attendance after the polling parties were dispatched these officials were found at venue of meeting hall thereby deliberately skipping their duty.
Sharma immediately called up the Station House Officer (SHO), Shahkot and asked him to round up erring officials and register FIR under 134 Representation of People’s Act.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has also directed the Sub Divisional Magistrate Shahkot to provide the list of all the other staff, which has managed to sneak after marking their attendance in the morning.
He said that Sub Divisional Magistrate would prepare the list of such wilful defaulters within 48 hours for further action. Mr Sharma said that stern action would be taken against these officers/ officials for dereliction of duty.
