Shahkot, May 28, 2018: The Akali leader Brij Bhupinder Singh Lalli was released on bail. He was arrested for trying to enter a polling station with his licensed weapon.
He was booked under sections 132,134-B of the Representation of the PeopleS Act and 188 of the IPC at Modal Police Station Shahkot
He was arrested and kept in the police station for five hours before his release on bail.
After release, he reportedly said that he had carried the weapon by mistake. He termed this as a minor incident which normally happens during elections.
A former Congress leader Lalli had joined Shiromani Akali Dal a few days before the Shahkot bypoll.
