Amarinder Singh’s reaction on Sidhu hugging General Bajwa is not only ridiculous but a best joke of the year-Bir Devinder
Chandigarh, August 19. 2018 : Former Deputy Speaker and Senior Politician Bir Devinder Singh has reacted strongly on the statement of Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh in which he expressed hi unhappiness over Sidhu hugging Pakistan army chief at Islamabad. He stated that CM's reaction was ridiculous . Bir Devinder Singh also slams BJP leaders for thier outburst against Sidhu and said that it was deserved to be rejected with appropriate disdain.
In a lengthy statement issued here today , Bir Devinder Singh said that the uncouth criticism of Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu Local Body Minister, Punjab by BJP and SAD, over his personal visit to Pakistan, on the special invitation of the Prime Minister elect, Mr. Imran Khan, to grace the occasion of his swearing in ceremony as Prime Minister of Pakistan, was understandable but how come Capt. Amarinder Singh was also speaking in the same tone, criticizing his minister for hugging Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Capt. Amarinder Sing’s statement on the issuewas not only laughter of the highest order but a best joke of the year.
Bir Devinder further said that Captain was preaching his minister Mr. Sidhu against the nice gesturing and hugging the Pakistan Army Chief on the swearing in ceremony of Imran Khan as Prime Minister of Pakistan blaming him for disrespecting the Indian soldiers who martyred in Pak firing unleashed by the Pakistan army under the orders of General Bajwa, whereas he himself invited the entire family of his friend Aroosa Alam on his own swearing in ceremony as Chief Minister of Punjab in utter disregard of the sentiments of the family of the martyrs.
He Said , " Ms. Aroosa Alam is also a defense journalist of same Pakistan, who is equally friendly with Pakistan Army General, ironically she is also staying at the official residence of the Punjab Chief Minister for an indefinite period, reason best known to Amarinder himself or to Mr. Ajit Doval National Security Adviser to Government of India. When did the Indian soldiers who are facing battle like situation in Kashmir every day & night and families of the martyrs of Kargil and Kashmir allowed Capt. Amarinder Singh for having nice time with Aroosa Alam and allowed with all kind of fun and frolic, despite bitter animosity with Pakistan, in utter disregard of his age and responsibilities".
Condemning the BJP leaders on Sidhu issue, Bir Devinder said that the onslaught of BJP against MR. Navjot Singh Sidhu deserve to be rejected with appropriate disdain. Embitter outburst of BJP was understandable symptom of their parochially prejudiced mindset. It’ was certainly a matter of great honor for Punjab that an outstanding cricketer and an eloquent commentator Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu, belonging to Imran ere of cricketing glory, was very especially invited for the occasion of great political significance in subcontinent, in immediate neighborhood of India. The kind of dignified importance was given to Mr. Sidhu on the swearing in ceremony of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, particularly in the seating arrangement in the first row, as he was seated next to Mr. Masood Khan President of Pakistani occupied Kashmir (POK), speaks volumes of excellence of the bonds of friendship, which Mr. Imran Khan and Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu affectionately shares with each other.
Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa after arriving at the ceremony went straight to the front row of the distinguished guests where Mr. Navjot Sidhu was seated next to PoK President Masood Khan. In a natural quintessential gesture of deference to a foreign guest of Navjot Sidh’s stature, General Bajwa reverentially hugged Mr. Sidhu and they both chatted briefly. Warm smiles were exchanged. As the two chatted, they hugged each other once more apparently as spontaneous reciprocal gesture after General Bajwa’s assuring words on ‘ Special Corridor’ to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent his last years, before his soul merged in to eternity, in 1539.
The Sikh community has long been demanding a “Special Corridor” through the international border to the Sikh Shrine which fell in Pakistan after the partition. It is important to mention here that the white-domed Gurdwara of Kartarpur Sahib is clearly visible from the Indian side of the border and the Sikh devotees pay their obeisance from Indian side of the border.
He said he wondered what wrong Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu has committed; wherein he disregarded the pride of India, for which he was unnecessarily being targeted by the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal.
Seeking assurance for a “Special Corridor” and free access to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib at the occasion of 550th Birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji; was certainly a moment of great conciliation and joy for the Sikh community.
"And I certainly see no reason as to why the BJP and SAD look to be spitefully jealous and making long faces on the magnificent conduct of India’s illustrious son Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu on the occasion of the swearing in of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, " he added.
