Chandigarh: 7-day Special NSS Camp starts at Govt. College of Education

Chandigarh, September 18, 2023; A 7-day Special NSS Camp was inaugurated today at the Government College of Education, Sector 20D, Chandigarh.
The program functions under the motto “Not me but you” in full spirit. Ms. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Deputy Director General (DDG), Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Sector-17, Chandigarh and Dr. Nemi Chand, NSS State Liaison Officer, Department of Education, U.T. Chandigarh were the esteemed guests at the inauguration ceremony.
The presence of these distinguished personalities undoubtedly inspired the students and motivated them to actively participate in the NSS program.
The program started with the College Anthem, lamp lightening ceremony and chanting of Shabad, followed by the formal welcome and introduction of the guests by Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college.
Dr. Ravneet Chawla, NSS Program Incharge of the college introduced the layout of the 7 days NSS program to the guests and the audience. College NSS Newsletter was released on the occasion. It is a first-of-its-kind initiative to document NSS work.
Dr. Ravneet Chawla has developed the newsletter under the patronage of the Principal of the college.
Bhawna Garg delivered her keynote address, shedding light on the importance of community service and its impact on society. She also emphasized the importance of knowing oneself first and indulging completely in whatever task is one into.
Anindita Mitra through her vast knowledge and experience in public service provided invaluable insights and inspiration to the students and motivated them as would be teachers to focus on developing good citizens that may contribute towards the progress of the society.
Dr. Nemi Chand also addressed the students, highlighting the goals and objectives of the NSS program. He encouraged the students to actively participate in the program and utilize this opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
The theme of the 7 Days NSS Special Camp program is “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan”- the Subtheme is -Saying Yes!+ to Life. The camp has Self Defence Training module every morning and the Yes!+ program under the Art of living and UT Chandigarh collaboration, in the afternoon.
The other activities will include sensitization and activities based on Swacchta, personality development, employment registration, preparing for a career and POCSO Act. The volunteers will also be extending activities to the adopted village Kajheri. A blood donation drive will also be conducted. The program aims to instil a sense of responsibility, compassion, and empathy in the students, which will benefit them both personally and professionally. Dr. Ravinder Kumar NSS Program officer extended formal vote of thanks to the guests and all present.
