CGC Landran celebrates World Environment Day

Chandigarh, June 6, 2026: Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran, in association with the Divisional Forest Office, S.A.S. Nagar, commemorated World Environment Day by organizing a series of engaging and awareness-driven activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.
The celebrations commenced with a visit to Siswan Nature Reserve, where more than 50 students from CGC Landran, accompanied by faculty members and esteemed officials from the Divisional Forest Office, participated in a Nature Walk.
The initiative provided students with an opportunity to closely observe and understand the region’s rich flora, fauna and biodiversity, aimed at encouraging
them to nurture a deeper connection with nature.
Following the walk, an interactive session was conducted to sensitize students about the urgent need to conserve and preserve the environment.
Participants were encouraged to actively contribute
towards environmental protection and were inspired to spend more time in nature, highlighting its
benefits for inner peace, emotional stability and overall well-being.
The event further featured a slogan writing and photography competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. Mohit and Kanika secured the first and second positions respectively in the photography competition, while Nandini and Heman achieved first and second positions in the slogan writing competition. The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony honouring the winners.
Among the distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr. Gagandeep Bhullar, Director, Student Welfare and Alumni Affairs Department, CGC Landran; Sh. Amneet Singh, IFS (DFO, S.A.S. Nagar); Dr. Akashdeep Singh Adival, Deputy Range Officer; S. Dharampal Singh, Block
Officer; S. Harkamal Preet Singh, Forest Guard; Sh. Hareesh Kumar, Forest Guard; Smt. Manpreet Kaur, Forest Guard; and S. Arshdeep Singh, Forest Guard.
The initiative helped reinforce the importance of environmental stewardship among students and highlighted the collective responsibility to safeguard nature for future generations.
