Amritsar/Chandigarh, October 19, 2026: Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan has postponed his scheduled October 25 show at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology in Amritsar amid protests demanding justice in the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota. Maan’s decision to postpone the Amritsar show comes amid growing expressions of solidarity with Jhota’s family and demands for accountability over the killing.
The development was confirmed to Babushahi by Maan’s manager. The show was scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm on October 25.
Jhota was shot dead on October 13 during a confrontation with medical store owner Ashwani Kumar in Mansa. Police said the incident occurred while Jhota was livestreaming the confrontation. He had previously confronted the same shop owner over alleged illegal drug sales.
His killing has triggered widespread protests across Punjab, with demonstrators demanding justice for the family and a thorough investigation. A statewide bandh was observed on October 15 following a call by organisations protesting the killing.
The agitation has also drawn support from Punjabi artists. Singers Babbu Maan and Ranjit Bawa visited the protest site, while Balkaur Singh, father of late singer Sidhu Moosewala, postponed his planned Canada tour to join the demonstrations.
