What is Legacy of Mr. Batish
The trophy is named after Mr. Batish, who joined The Lawrence School faculty in 1977 alongside his wife, Mrs. Batish. Mr. Batish played a pivotal role in Sanawar’s residential house system, particularly with Siwalik House, known for its green colors.
During his tenure, he managed and mentored the Senior Dormitory, contributing significantly to the distinctive boarding-school environment that Sanawar is renowned for. After approximately eight years of dedicated service to the Siwalik senior dormitory and house, Mr. Batish departed from the school in the 1988–89 academic year. His departure was warmly acknowledged in The Sanawarian, the school’s annual publication, which noted that his absence would be deeply felt by the Sanawar community.
Decades after Mr. Batish’s departure, his legacy endures through the trophy that bears his name. The presentation of the Batish Cup to Adesh Partap Singh in August 2026 symbolizes more than just an individual sporting achievement; it connects his present-day success with a longstanding institutional tradition that values performance, courage, character, and sportsmanship equally.
