Breaking: J&K and Ladakh High Court promotes 11 Civil Judges to Senior Division

Srinagar (J-K), October 11, 2026: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has ordered the ad hoc promotion of 11 Civil Judges (Junior Division) to the rank of Civil Judges (Senior Division).
The order, numbered 1578 of 2026/RG and dated October 10, 2026, was issued by Registrar General M.K. Sharma after consideration of the officers’ comparative seniority, vigilance reports and performance under Rule 7 of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Judicial Service Rules, 2025.
The judges promoted on an ad hoc basis are Rohit Sharma, Rashi Verma, Shilpa Dogra, Poonam Gupta, Neena Thakur, Shayesta Nazir, Shahber Ayaz, Bazila Bashir, Danishta Shafi, Himani Parihar and Shafiq Mushtaq Lone.
According to the order, the ad hoc promotions will not confer any right to regular promotion or a claim to seniority on a regular basis.
The officers may be reverted to the Civil Judges (Junior Division) cadre if sufficient posts are not available for their regular promotion. They will continue to serve at their respective places of posting until formal adjustment orders are issued.
The promotions have been made under the provisions of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Judicial Service Rules, 2025, notified on June 20, 2025.
