CAQM team reviews stubble management measures in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 17, 2026: A high-level team of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), comprising Technical Member Dr T.S. Panwar and Scientist-C Dr Dhananjay Kumar, visited Ferozepur to review stubble management measures and efforts to curb crop residue burning.
The team held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma, SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu and senior officials to review hotspot areas, availability of stubble-management machinery, facilities being provided to farmers and monitoring of fire incidents.
The officials discussed measures to further reduce stubble-burning incidents and improve air quality. The team was also briefed about last year's incidents and the machinery provided to farmers, while the administration said sensors were being installed for better monitoring of air quality.
DC said the district administration was working actively to bring stubble-burning incidents down to zero. Farmers were being provided modern agricultural machinery on subsidy and sensitised, in coordination with the Agriculture Department, about the harmful effects of burning stubble.
The CAQM team also visited some field areas and urged farmers to adopt proper crop-residue management instead of burning stubble. Farmers assured the team that they would give preference to scientific management of crop residue.
ADC (Development) Krishna Pal Rajput, SDM Ferozepur Abhishek Sharma, SDM Zira Suraj Kumar, SDM Guruharsahai Hardeep Singh, XEN Pollution Control Board Ravipal and other officials were present.
