CCP, CGC Landran, granted Autonomous status by UGC

Chandigarh, August 31, 2026: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred ‘Autonomous Status’ on Chandigarh College of Pharmacy (CCP), CGC Landran, Mohali, for a period of ten years from the academic year 2026-27 to 2035-36. CCP, CGC Landran, a NAAC grade A accredited college, has earned a distinguished place in the QCI-NABET/PCI Ranking & Rating, having been ranked 1st among pharmacy colleges in Punjab, in addition to being awarded a Grade A rating.
Autonomy in higher education is a functional status granted to colleges by the UGC and is aimed at enhancing the quality of higher education in the country. It provides greater flexibility towards academic development while also facilitating improvement of academic standards and excellence.
Being an autonomous institution will enable CCP-CGC Landran to pursue the advancement of curriculum through introduction of additional courses, certifications that will help align its graduates with the latest industry requirements. The institution will also be able to design an industry-aligned syllabus, offer interdisciplinary electives and value-added certifications in addition to streamlining its examination and evaluation system and offering enhanced placement opportunities to students.

The autonomous status conferred upon CCP, CGC Landran is another significant milestone achieved by the institution which recently also became the only private college in Punjab to be approved as an Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Monitoring Centre under the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This recognition by the UGC will open more avenues for the institution to further reinforce the quality of learning, teaching and research it offers while enhancing career opportunities for its students.
