DSCW organises 3-day nature camp “Eco Explorers”
Ferozepur, March 20, 2026: The Postgraduate Department of Zoology of Dev Samaj College for Women, organised a three-day nature camp titled “Eco Explorers” from under the Environment Education Programme. The camp aimed to promote environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation and experiential learning among students.
The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The camp activities were held at Keshopur-Miani Wetland, Kathlaur Wildlife Sanctuary and Chhamror Wetland.
Students got the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom through expert lectures, field visits and practical ecological activities. On the first day, Dr. Mokshi, Head of the Zoology Department, introduced the objectives of the camp and stressed the importance of wildlife conservation. Dr. Nrip Jeet of Sardar Beant Singh State University and Jang Bahadur, Range Officer, Kathlaur Wildlife Sanctuary, addressed the students. They also took part in insect exploration and cleanliness drives.
On the second day, students visited Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary and attended a lecture on sericulture by Prof. Lokesh K. Mahajan. Eco-based creative activities and a stargazing session added to the learning experience.
On the final day at Chhamror Wetland, students participated in bird-watching, guided nature walks and awareness sessions by experts. The camp was coordinated by Dr. Mokshi and Dr. Ramneek Kaur. The camp approved to be a meaningful initiative to strengthen teamwork, environmental responsibility and practical learning among students, said, Dr Sangeeta, Principal.
