HC Breaking: Punjab & Haryana High Court Lawyers to Abstain from Work on July 24

Chandigarh, July 23: The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has announced that lawyers will abstain from work at the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday, July 24, 2026, in support of advocates observing a hunger strike against the implementation of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) Policy.
According to a notice issued by the Bar Association on Thursday, the Executive Committee has expressed complete solidarity with the protesting advocates and resolved to suspend court work for one day only.
The Bar Association has appealed to all its members to extend wholehearted cooperation and support to make the collective effort meaningful and effective.
The notice, signed by Parampreet Singh Bajwa (Harry), Honorary Secretary, Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, states that the decision has been taken as a mark of solidarity with the lawyers' ongoing protest against the LADC Policy.
As a result, legal work in the Punjab and Haryana High Court is expected to remain affected on July 24, 2026.
