KGS Team Foundation completes target of planting 11,111 saplings
Ferozepur, August 8, 2026: With the objective of protecting the environment and making Ferozepur greener, Keep Green Society (KGS) Team Foundation has successfully completed the target of planting 11,111 saplings along the earthen embankment from Dulchi Ke and Habib Ke to Kundian within 45 days. It is among the biggest plantation targets undertaken so far in Punjab. The initiative is expected to contribute to cleaner air and provide relief from rising temperatures in Ferozepur in the coming years.
The massive campaign was jointly undertaken by KGS Team Foundation, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle and Gurmat Prachar Sabha. Under the leadership of Tree Man Kuljit Singh, volunteers of KGS Team Foundation worked continuously to accomplish the target. The objective of the campaign is not merely to plant saplings but also to ensure their proper care and protection, which will help increase greenery in the area in the long term and encourage people to become involved in environmental conservation.
Those who made a special contribution to the plantation drive include KGS Team Foundation volunteers Gurjeet Sir KGS, Gurmeet Singh KGS, Arshdeep Singh, Gargyan Singh, Rajpreet Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Dalip Kumar, Sukhbaj Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Taranjit Singh and Sukhpal Singh. The volunteers are contributing not only to plantation but also to the care and protection of the saplings.
On the occasion, General President of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle Inderpal Singh and President of Gurmat Prachar Sabha Dr Kanwar Vijaypal Singh (Dr Bobby) also extended their important support to the environmental campaign.
Tree Man Kuljit Singh said that completing the target of planting 11,111 saplings is a significant achievement, but the real success lies in nurturing these saplings into mature trees. He said that environmental protection is not the responsibility of any one individual or organisation but a collectiveibility of the entire society.
KGS Team Foundation is also continuing similar plantation and environmental awareness campaigns in various villages of Ferozepur. The organisation aims to connect more and more people with the campaign and build a strong people’s movement to make Ferozepur greener.
The organisation appealed to people to plant more and more saplings and also shoulder the responsibility of caring for them. “Planting a sapling is the beginning; turning it into a tree is our responsibility", said Tree Man Kuljit Singh.
