MLA Bhullar launches ₹139.79 Crore power infrastructure upgrade
Ferozepur, October 8, 2025: On Wednesday, MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar Ferozepur Urban, inaugurated power infrastructure projects worth ₹139.79 crore aimed at construction, expansion, and upgradation of the district’s electricity network, under the visionary leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Power Minister Sanjeev Arora,
The funds will be utilized for laying new lines, installing transformers, setting up new sub-stations, and strengthening the existing system to enhance capacity.
As part of the project, a new 66 kV underground (1.326 km) and overhead (2.128 km) line costing nearly ₹10 crore is being laid to provide an alternate supply to the 66 kV City Ferozepur sub-station. Once completed, uninterrupted power supply will be ensured even if one line fails.
The 66 kV Jhok Harihar sub-station is being upgraded to 220 kV capacity with an estimated cost of ₹16 crore, expected to be completed by 2026. Similarly, the 66 kV FCI sub-station has been upgraded from a 12.5 MVA to a 20 MVA transformer, along with the installation of five new breakers, at a cost of ₹2.63 crore, preventing future overloading in Ferozepur city, cantonment, and border villages.
Further proposals include upgrading the 66 kV City Ferozepur transformer from 12.5 MVA to 20 MVA and installing a new 20 MVA transformer at the 220 kV Ferozepur Cantt sub-station, with an estimated cost of ₹7.55 crore.
By March 2027, the district will also see 31 new 11 kV feeders, 279 new transformers, and augmentation of 355 existing transformers and lines, costing nearly ₹93.70 crore.
MLA Bhullar said these projects will ensure improved and reliable electricity supply to Ferozepur city, cantonment, and nearby areas, providing relief from overloading, reducing power cuts, and addressing consumer grievances.
