Chandigarh, July 15, 2026: The heat has made a comeback in Punjab and Chandigarh after recent rainfall activity subsided, with temperatures rising sharply across the region.
According to the latest weather update, temperatures have increased by 5.4°C in the past 24 hours, although they still remain 2.2°C below normal levels. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Patiala at 38.1°C, while most districts reported temperatures ranging between 33.9°C and 38.1°C.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for several districts, warning of light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h.
The alert covers Fazilka, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Moga, Barnala, Mansa, and Bathinda districts. The IMD noted that rainfall activity is expected to remain scattered, affecting only isolated areas.
Officials said that no major weather system is currently active over the region, and with the western disturbance weakening, most parts of Punjab are likely to experience hot and dry conditions over the next 2–3 days.
However, due to a cyclonic circulation and trough influence, isolated pockets may still witness dust storms and brief spells of light rain.
