Facebook, Instagram suffer major outage; Users worldwide face access issues

New Delhi, June 12, 2026: Meta-owned social media platforms Facebook and Instagram experienced a major outage on Friday, leaving millions of users across the world unable to access their accounts and services.
Users reported problems with both the websites and mobile applications, with many facing difficulties loading feeds, viewing stories and refreshing pages.
On Facebook, users attempting to refresh the platform were shown an error message reading, "Sorry, Something Went Wrong." The message further stated that the company was aware of the issue and was working to restore services as quickly as possible.
Instagram users also reported widespread disruptions, including feed-loading failures and issues accessing stories and other features.
As the outage spread, users turned to alternative social media platforms to report the problem and share their experiences. The disruption affected users in multiple countries, triggering a surge in complaints online.
Meta has not yet disclosed the cause of the outage but said efforts are underway to resolve the technical issue and restore normal services. The company is expected to provide further updates as restoration work continues.
