Sukhbir Badal slams Mann Govt over power cuts amid heatwave

Chandigarh, April 27, 2026: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over reports of prolonged power outages during the ongoing heatwave.
In a post on X, Badal accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of pushing the state into a power crisis at a time when temperatures have crossed 40°C.
He alleged that frequent electricity cuts have caused widespread inconvenience to residents, disrupted industries, and impacted farmers.
The SAD leader further claimed that the current government has failed to generate additional power and relied on what he described as “false promises and advertisements” instead of addressing the issue.
Highlighting his party’s tenure, Badal said Punjab had become power surplus and largely free from outages during the rule of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
He cited the development of thermal power plants, promotion of solar energy, and provision of round-the-clock electricity supply as key achievements.
