Three IPS officers appointed as Joint Directors in CBI

New Delhi, August 11, 2026: The Central Government has approved the appointment of three IPS officers as Joint Directors in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to an order issued by the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IPS (MH:2008), DIG, CBI, has been appointed as Joint Director in the CBI, replacing Sudha Singh, IPS (OD:2006).
His appointment will be effective from the date he assumes charge and will continue up to July 22, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Satya Veer Singh, IPS (BH:2008), DIG, CBI, has also been appointed as Joint Director in the CBI, replacing Ashwin Shenvi, IPS (HY:2006). His appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge on or after September 7, 2026, and will continue up to March 5, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The ACC has further approved the appointment of Anish Gupta, IPS (JH:2008), DIG, CBI, as Joint Director in the CBI in place of Ramnish Geer, consequent upon his superannuation. Gupta’s appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge on or after October 1, 2026, and will continue up to February 29, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on August 10, 2026.
