MAJOR BLOW TO CROSS-BORDER DRUG SYNDICATE
ANTF Ferozepur busts Pak-backed drug module; 30.672 kg heroin seized, 3 held
Ferozepur, August 11, 2026: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Ferozepur Range, has dealt a major blow to a cross-border drug syndicate by arresting three persons and recovering 30 kg 672 grams of heroin along with a Hyundai Verna car.
Added here, earlier also, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur, in a joint operation with Border Security Force (BSF), has busted a major cross-border narcotics smuggling module with the arrest of two individuals, and recovered 30.200 kg of heroin from their possession.
The operation was carried out under the aegis of ADGP ANTF Punjab Nilabh Kishore, and the directions of AIG Operations, ANTF Punjab, Ashwini Gotyal. The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu, SP, ANTF Ferozepur Range.
According to preliminary investigations, the consignment had been sent across the international border by Pakistan-based drug smuggler Shah Pathan and was received by an Indian smuggler in the area of village Ali Ke, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sadar Ferozepur.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding the movement of the consignment after its retrieval, ANTF teams laid a trap on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road. The coordinated operation resulted in the interception of a Hyundai Verna bearing registration number PB-77-5973 and the arrest of three suspects who were allegedly transporting the heroin.
The accused have been identified as Anmolpreet Singh alias Anmol, 24, son of Swaran Singh, resident of Ward No. 4, Kasuri Gate, Ferozepur City; Akash Singh alias Akash, 22, son of Kulwinder Singh, resident of village Gulam Pattra, Ferozepur district, presently residing at Sant Kabir Nagar, Ferozepur City; and Anshpreet Singh alias Ansh, 25, son of Amrik Singh, resident of Ward No. 4, Fish Market, Raj Ghat, Ferozepur City.
According to the police, Anmolpreet Singh is the alleged main kingpin in the case and was managing the drug network locally. Preliminary investigation has revealed that a smuggler identified as Sunny, a resident of village Kilche under Sadar Ferozepur, had helped him establish contact with Pakistan-based smugglers. Sunny reportedly died recently in a road accident.
Police said Anmolpreet Singh is currently studying in the first year of the Painter trade at ITI College, Ferozepur, while Akash Singh is pursuing a first-year Draftsman Civil course at the same institute. Both accused have an earlier FIR registered against them under Section 325 of the IPC.
The third accused, Anshpreet Singh, is reportedly working as an assistant with a private architect. The Hyundai Verna used for transporting the contraband was registered in his name.
In connection with the seizure, FIR No. 177 dated August 10, 2026, has been registered at Police Station ANTF, SAS Nagar, under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Further investigation is underway to establish the backward and forward linkages of the alleged drug network and identify the local receiver who reportedly received the consignment in the Ali Ke area.
The Punjab Police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force said they remain committed to curbing the drug menace in the state and dismantling the supply chains operated by cross-border smuggling syndicates.
