S.A.S. Nagar, August 06, 2020: With the continuous surge in COVID-19 cases in the district, Mohali Administration has put ‘COVID Spike Management Plan’ into action, informed Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan after reviewing the status of pandemic spread, with the officials of health department.
“Learning from the worldwide pandemic spread, we expected the cases to surge at any given point of time. So, we prepared our COVID spike management plan well in time and have now put it into action,” said Dayalan.
Giving details, he informed that besides Gyan Sagar Hospital, the Covid Care Centre(CCC) at Chandigarh University Gharuan has been operationalized with 200 hundred dedicated beds for asympyomatic patients and we have arrangement of another 800 beds which can be pressed into use, if need be. Another CCC would be set up in Dera bassi. Private hospitals have also been put on guard and told to reserve more beds for isolation cases. Special facility has been created in District Hospital to accommodate and handle deliveries of COVID positive expectant mothers.
Besides infrastructure, testing capacity has been upgraded. Antigen testing has been commenced by virtue of which test results are available within half an hour. “We target to do at least a hundred tests a day on the contacts of positive patients so that we can check the further exponential growth in cases from those contacts”, said DC. The second TrueNat machine for testing has been installed at Dera Bassi.
In order to provide quick medical consultancy to patients opting for home isolation, a dedicated call centre is soon to be operationalized. The doctors from the centre would be in touch with the patients, daily and vice versa patients can call to consult if any inconvenience or deteoration in health is experienced. Video calling facility would also be extended to patients, if need be.
Besides, Aashika Jain ADC(G) and Rajiv Gupta ADC(D), the meeting was attended by Himanshu Jain, Kuldeep Bawa, Jagdeep Sehgal(all SDMs), Manjit Singh Civil Surgeon and other officials from district Health Department.
