Basant Panchami celebrated at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri
Mohali, February 20, 2021: The festival of yellow colors was celebrated at CGC Jhanjeri campus. Students wore yellow garments, and did Saraswati vandana in yellow dresses.
A kite flying competition was held amongst enthusiastic singing of songs like “Rang de basanti chola”. Various colourful competitions organized during the Basant Panchami’21, including kite flying competition, rangoli competition, mehndi art competition, poster making competition, and hairstyle making competition.
Students of CGC Jhanjeri exhibited different talents including singing, dancing, reciting poems, etc. and were appreciated with applauds. All the students and staff members enjoyed different delicacies at the eatery stalls including gol gappe, chole kulche, cold drinks, and others.

All the student participants were appreciated by awarding certification of participation and the winners were given the certificate along with the trophies. The main attraction of the event was the face of CGC-J in which Ms. Tania and Mr. Anuj were accorded Ms. Vasant’21 and Mr. Vasant’21 accordingly.
On this occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal President, CGC informed the students that Basant Panchami day is dedicated to Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, music, arts, science and technology.
He inspired the students to devote their maximum time in studies, because quality education is the only way through which they can enlighten their lives with knowledge and can get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance.
President Dhaliwal said that As 'Diwali' - the festival of light - is to Lakshmi, goddess of wealth and prosperity, and 'Navaratri' is to Durga, goddess of power and valor, Vasant Panchami is to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and arts.
