Sangrur district tops Punjab for overall best performance during wheat procurement season
Award given by Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister at Chandigarh for the year 2023-24

Sangrur, May 31, 2023: District Sangrur has been ranked first in Punjab for ensuring foolproof arrangements for wheat procurement season.
Following the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak felicitated District Administration Sangrur for this outstanding achievement at Chandigarh today.
The Minister congratulated Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and officials of departments concerned for playing excellent role in the wheat procurement, lifting, payment, online gate pass, vehicle tracking system and other works in a planned and timely manner.
District Food and Supply Controller Sangrur Satveer Singh Mavi received this award on behalf of the district administration.
Giving more information in this regard under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia, District Food and Supply Controller Satveer Singh Mavi said that during the year 2023-24 season, 8,86,353 metric tons of wheat was procured from the grain markets of district Sangrur which surpassed last year’s figures by 1.5 lakh metric tons.
He said that about Rs. 1642 crore have been paid to the farmers and the entire procurement process has been carried out smoothly.
