Chandigarh, May 1, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has convened an all-party meeting to address the escalating concerns over the state's water rights. The meeting will be held tomorrow at 10 AM at Punjab Bhawan, with representatives from all political parties invited to participate.
The agenda includes a detailed discussion on the Centre's alleged attempts to undermine Punjab's water share, particularly through the controversial functioning of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the reported unauthorized allocation of Punjab's water to Haryana.
In a move to strengthen Punjab's stance, the Mann government will also call a special session of the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. During the session, a resolution concerning the protection of Punjab’s water rights is expected to be introduced. The Chief Minister is aiming to build consensus across party lines to present a united front on this sensitive and vital issue.
