Jalandhar Police bust pharma-opioid supply chain; 1.85 lakh Tramadol tablets seized, four arrested; probe points to Goindwal Jail handlers

Jalandhar, September 18, 2025:
In a major breakthrough against the illegal pharma–opioid trade, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police dismantled a large supply chain of intoxicating pharmaceutical drugs, seizing 1,85,000 Tramadol tablets and arresting four suspects, according to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Preliminary investigation indicates the syndicate was being operated from Goindwal Jail, with handlers allegedly coordinating supplies and distribution from inside the prison.
An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Division No. 8, Jalandhar, and further investigation is underway to trace the network’s forward and backward linkages, including financiers, suppliers, and retail distribution points.
