DC gears up to curb stubble burning with strict monitoring in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 16, 2025: The district civil and police administration has intensified efforts to bring stubble burning incidents to a zero level. Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, while chairing a meeting with SDMs, DSPs, and officers from related departments, directed strict monitoring in hotspot villages and urged close coordination among officials. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bambah was also present.
The DC instructed officers to involve progressive farmers in sensitizing others against burning stubble and to encourage maximum use of subsidized machinery provided by the agriculture department, giving priority to small and marginal farmers. She emphasized public awareness campaigns to highlight the harmful effects of stubble burning on humans, animals, birds, and the environment.
She further informed that cluster and nodal officers have been deployed in different blocks for stubble management and mapping has been done with industries for the use of balers. Farmers were urged to cooperate with the administration in achieving the target of ‘zero burning.’
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu stressed strict compliance with the Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal’s directions and appealed to farmers to refrain from setting stubble on fire, contributing instead to environmental protection.
The meeting was attended by SDMs Harbans Singh (Ferozepur/Guruharsahai), Arvinder Pal Singh (Zira), Chief Agriculture Officer Randhir Singh, all DSPs, and other concerned officials.
