CBI recovers Rs 7.5 crore, gold, and luxury watches during searches at DIG Bhullar’s premises

Chandigarh, October 17, 2025: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday conducted massive searches across Punjab and Chandigarh in connection with a bribery case involving a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Punjab Police, Harcharan Singh Bhullar.
The DIG was earlier caught while allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification from a businessman through his associate for “settling” an FIR and ensuring no further police action against the complainant’s business.
During the searches, the CBI made major recoveries from multiple premises linked to the officer.
From the DIG’s Chandigarh residence, investigators seized:
- ₹7.5 crore in cash;
- 2.5 kg of gold jewellery;
- 26 luxury watches, including Rolex and Rado brands;
- Documents related to over 50 immovable properties in the names of family members and suspected benami entities;
- Locker keys and details of several bank accounts;
- Four firearms and 100 live cartridges.
At the Samrala farmhouse, officials found:
- ₹5.7 lakh cash;
- 108 bottles of liquor;
- 17 live cartridges.
From the residence of the alleged middleman:
- ₹21 lakh cash;
- Several incriminating documents.
A CBI spokesperson said the operation is part of an ongoing probe to uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption and financial misconduct.
Both the DIG and his associate were produced before the CBI Court in Chandigarh and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
