Sant Seechewal marks ‘Green Diwali’ by donating stainless steel water tanks to 25 Punjab villages

Kapurthala (Punjab), October 19, 2025: Giving a meaningful twist to Diwali celebrations, Rajya Sabha Member and noted environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has gifted stainless steel water tanks to 25 villages across Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts. The tanks were dispatched from Nirmal Kutia Sultanpur Lodhi and Seechewal, marking a continued effort to promote clean water access and environmental sustainability.
Speaking about the initiative, Sant Seechewal said that the gesture is part of a year-long celebration commemorating 25 years of his mission to clean the sacred Kali Bein. He revealed that so far, ₹7.5 crore from his MPLAD fund has been utilized to install 215 such tanks in rural Punjab, ensuring clean and accessible water for all.
Village sarpanches expressed gratitude, describing the tanks as a “permanent gift” that will help tackle water shortages, support plantation drives, and even assist in firefighting during emergencies. They noted that the move has solved long-standing issues of water scarcity during community and religious gatherings.
Extending his greetings on Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas, Sant Seechewal appealed to people to observe a “Green Diwali”, emphasizing environmental consciousness. He also announced that another 50 tanks will soon be distributed, with priority given to Dalit and flood-affected villages.
Villages benefiting from the initiative include Ahli Kalan, Bahibal Bahadur, Sidhwa Dona, Sukhani, Kaul Talwandi, Khaira Dona, Jhall Bibri, Mustafabad, Tibba, Isharwal, Meva Singh Wala, Mahbalipur, Dabulian (Kapurthala), Kasupur, Umarwala Billa, Manakpur, Bajwa Khurd, Mulewal Khahira, Mulewal Araiyan, Khanpur Rajputana, Talwandi Salem Samaipur, Pandori Khas, Bara Jodh Singh, and Isewal (Jalandhar).
A few days earlier, Sant Seechewal had also distributed tanks to Jainpur, Haibatpur, Talwandi Chaudhrian, and Shahwala Andreesa villages in Kapurthala.
The event was attended by Surjit Singh Shanti, Vice Chairman Harjinder Singh, Panchayat Secretary Jaswinder Singh, and several local panchs, sarpanches, and community members, who lauded Sant Seechewal’s ongoing efforts to blend spirituality with sustainable development.
