Over 4.32 lakh farmers benefit from MSP in Punjab; Patiala tops, Tarn Taran second

Chandigarh, October 22, 2025: The Punjab Government’s proactive measures have ensured a smooth paddy procurement season this year, with 4,32,458 farmers benefiting from the Minimum Support Price (MSP) as of October 21.
Under the guidance of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, procurement, lifting, and payments are proceeding efficiently across the state. Patiala district leads the list with 57,546 farmers availing MSP benefits, followed by flood-affected Tarn Taran with 38,578 farmers, and Ferozepur securing third place with 35,501 farmers.
As for paddy arrivals, a total of 58,40,618.72 metric tons has reached mandis across Punjab till the evening of October 21. Of this, 56,04,976.76 MT has been procured, reaching 95 percent of the target. The total amount lifted from mandis stands at 39,85,173.28 MT, achieving 71 percent of the procured crop so far.
