Kapurthala (Punjab), November 11, 2025:Congress MLA from Kapurthala, Rana Gurjit Singh, has raised serious concerns over the growing traffic congestion caused by ongoing bridge construction near the Rajpura Bypass, urging the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to take swift corrective measures.
In a letter addressed to Prashant Sinha, Project Director, NHAI Ambala, the MLA highlighted the severe inconvenience faced by commuters on the Patiala–Rajpura route, where daily traffic snarls have become a major issue.
He pointed out that school buses, ambulances, and general traffic often remain stuck for extended periods, creating not only inconvenience but also significant safety risks for the public.
Rana Gurjit Singh appealed to the NHAI to immediately construct service lanes on both sides of the affected stretch and ensure they are properly widened and accessible to facilitate smooth vehicular movement during the bridge construction phase.
He warned that if timely steps are not taken, the stretch could become a permanent traffic bottleneck, disrupting economic activity and public mobility in the region.
