Camps organized at 903 polling stations for pre-mapping of voters under SIR-2026 exercise
Ferozepur, June 8: District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Deep Shikha Sharma informed that, in compliance with the directions of the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, special camps were organized at all 903 polling stations across the district for pre-mapping of voters under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 exercise.
She said that the pre-mapping process involves matching the voter list of 2003 with the electoral roll of 2025. One-day special camps were held in the Assembly constituencies of Ferozepur City, Ferozepur Rural, Zira, and Guruharsahai to expedite the voter mapping process. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) remained present at their respective polling stations, and the camps received a positive response from voters.
The District Election Officer further informed that the Special Intensive Revision exercise in the district will commence on June 25, 2026. From June 25 to July 24, 2026, BLOs will visit households door-to-door to assist voters in filling out the required forms.
As per the revised schedule of SIR-2026, the draft electoral roll, which was earlier scheduled to be published on July 31, 2026, will now be published on August 3, 2026. Claims and objections can be submitted from August 3 to September 2, 2026, while their disposal will be completed by September 28, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026.
