We request a fresh review of the strike recently issued on the “SGPC Sri Amritsar” channel for a video uploaded on 31 October.
We are the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the central religious body responsible for the management of Sikh Gurdwaras and for the daily broadcast of Gurbani from Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar. Our channel publishes religious, educational and historical content in the interest of the global Sikh community.
The video that was removed contained part of a sermon by a Sikh preacher who described historical events and the lives of Sikh warriors. The intent was educational and religious, not political. No part of the content was meant to praise or encourage violence, promote harm, or glorify criminal acts in the present day. The statements were made in a historical and theological context that may have been misunderstood when reviewed out of the full sermon.
We request YouTube to consider the following:
1. The video was an explanation of Sikh history delivered in a traditional religious discourse.
2. The content did not advocate violence or call for harm against any individual or group.
3. SGPC has a long, credible history of producing safe, educational and non-violent religious content.
4. If any specific lines appeared problematic, we are ready to remove or edit those portions.
5. The strike restricts our ability to broadcast daily Gurbani, which affects millions of viewers worldwide who depend on this spiritual service.
We request you to kindly re-evaluate the strike, restore our channel’s full functionality and allow us to continue broadcasting religious and educational content responsibly
