Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Honoured: Haryana CM Saini announces Chair, Memorial Forest & Major State initiatives

Kurukshetra (Haryana), November 25, 2025: At a historic ceremony marking the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Jyotisar, Kurukshetra, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a series of major initiatives dedicated to the legacy of the ninth Sikh Guru. The event, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, brought together spiritual reverence and national leadership on one platform.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment to preserving the Guru’s teachings, the Chief Minister unveiled several educational, cultural and environmental projects designed to inspire future generations.
Major Announcements Made by CM Nayab Singh Saini:
• Dedicated Chair on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji:
A new academic chair focusing on the life, philosophy and sacrifices of Guru Sahib will be established at Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa.
• Government Polytechnic Renamed:
The Government Polytechnic in Ambala has been officially renamed after Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to honour his teachings.
• Medical College to Carry Guru Ji’s Name:
The upcoming Medical College in Yamunanagar will be named after “Hind Di Chadar” Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
• Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial Forest:
A memorial forest is being developed at Kalesar in Yamunanagar. So far, 350 saplings have been planted, and a symbolic gateway has been erected.
• Statewide Yatras & Blood Donation Camps:
Four sacred yatras were organised across Haryana, alongside 350 blood donation camps that collected 27,000 units of blood.
• Scholastic Initiatives:
Over 3.5 lakh students participated in multilingual essay competitions, while 350 students took part in trilingual story-writing contests highlighting Guru Sahib’s wisdom.
• Honouring Dada Kushal Singh Dahiya:
A commemorative state-level event was held at Badkhalsa to honour Dada Kushal Singh Dahiya, who sacrificed his life to protect the Guru’s remains.
• Support for 1984 Riot-Affected Families:
The state government has provided jobs to members of all 121 affected families, reinforcing the commitment to justice and rehabilitation.
• Land Allocation for Gurdwara Sri Chilla Sahib:
The Haryana government has allotted 70 kanals of land to Gurdwara Sri Chilla Sahib in Sirsa, a site associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The Chief Minister said Haryana is “the land of the Gurus,” adding that these initiatives will educate youth, honour Sikh heritage and strengthen cultural values.
The ceremony also witnessed Prime Minister Modi inaugurating the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra and unveiling the sacred conch Panchjanya, adding to the spiritual significance of Kurukshetra.
