President Droupadi Murmu releases Constitution in 9 languages on 75th Constitution Day
New Delhi, November 26, 2025 (ANI) — The 75th Constitution Day celebrations at Samvidhan Sadan on Wednesday witnessed a historic moment as President Droupadi Murmu released translated versions of the Indian Constitution in nine Indian languages.
The newly released translations include Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese, marking a major step toward linguistic inclusivity and wider accessibility of the nation’s founding document.
The event, attended by President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Ministers, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and leaders of the Opposition, highlighted India’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, who hails from Tamil Nadu, set the tone of the ceremony by beginning his address in Tamil, expressing his deep emotional connect with the Constitution and praising its makers.
He described the Constitution as the “soul of the nation”, crafted through the collective wisdom of great leaders like Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Dr Rajendra Prasad, N. Gopalaswamy Iyengar, Alladi Krishnaswamy Iyer, K.M. Munshi, and Durgabai Deshmukh.
He said the Constitution reflects the sacrifices, dreams, and aspirations of millions who fought for India’s freedom. “The soul of our Constitution has proved that Bharat is one and will remain one forever,” he added.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid tribute to the framers of the Constitution, calling Samvidhan Sadan a “sacred place” where the document was debated and shaped. He said India's journey over the past seven decades—marked by social justice, inclusivity, and good governance—has been guided by the values enshrined in the Constitution.
President Murmu also led the gathering in reading the Preamble, reaffirming commitment to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
To mark the occasion, a commemorative booklet titled “Art and Calligraphy in the Indian Constitution” was also released.
Constitution Day, celebrated on November 26 each year, marks the adoption of the Constitution in 1949, which came into force on January 26, 1950.
