Ferozepur, January 24, 2026: Under the National Road Safety Month, Mayank Foundation organised a road safety awareness programme at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya-2, Ferozepur Cantonment, as part of its campaign “Road Safety, Save Life.” The programme aimed to spread awareness among students, teachers and the general public about the importance of following road safety rules to prevent accidents and save lives.
Addressing the gathering, Rajiv Setia, Secretary of Mayank Foundation, said that students were sensitised on key aspects of road safety, including traffic rules, the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, the ill effects of over-speeding, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, and ensuring the safety of pedestrians. An interactive session was also held during which students asked questions and shared their views on road safety.
Deepak Sharma, Founder of Mayank Foundation and Member of the State-Level Road Safety Advisory Committee, expressed concern over the rising number of road accidents in the country. He stressed that imparting road safety education from an early age can significantly reduce accidents. He urged students to strictly follow traffic rules themselves and also motivate their families and society to adopt safe road practices.
On the occasion, Harish Monga, Lakhvir Singh, Harnam Singh, Krishna Sachdeva, Kamal Sharma, school staff and students were present.
School Principal Dr Gurdip Singh lauded the life-saving initiative of Mayank Foundation, stating that such road safety campaigns are highly relevant for society and help inculcate a sense of responsible citizenship among students. The school administration also appreciated the foundation’s efforts, noting that such awareness programmes play a vital role in bringing positive behavioural change in young minds.
Road Safety Month is observed nationwide to highlight the urgent need for safer roads and responsible behaviour by all road users. With thousands of lives lost every year due to preventable road accidents, the month-long campaign focuses on education, enforcement and awareness to promote safe driving habits. Initiatives during this period aim to reduce fatalities, encourage compliance with traffic laws and build a culture of road safety, especially among the youth. Notably, Mayank Foundation has been continuously organising awareness activities, workshops and campaigns across educational institutions and public places in the district throughout the National Road Safety Month.
