Heated dispute turns deadly: Two Punjab Police personnel shoot each other in Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur/Dorangla, February 22, 2026: In a shocking incident that sent waves of panic across the border district of Gurdaspur, two Punjab Police personnel allegedly shot each other dead following a heated dispute in village Adian under Dorangla police station on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Ashok Kumar and Gurnam Singh. According to preliminary information, the two personnel were involved in an argument over an undisclosed issue. The verbal altercation reportedly escalated dramatically, leading both officers to open fire on each other using their official service weapons.
Both sustained critical bullet injuries and died on the spot.
The incident triggered immediate alarm within the police department. Senior officers, accompanied by a heavy police contingent, rushed to the scene to secure the area and assess the situation. The bodies were taken into custody and sent to a nearby hospital for postmortem examination.
