Police IT Cell traces 72 lost mobiles using CEIR Portal, return to rightful owners
Ferozepur, February 23, 2026: The District Police has successfully traced 72 lost mobile phones with the help of the CEIR portal and returned them to their rightful owners, the police informed the media on Monday.
Sharing details, Dharamvir Singh, SP, said, mobile phones have become an essential part of everyday life, and losing them often causes serious inconvenience and financial loss to individuals. Taking such cases seriously, the police launched a special drive to trace lost mobile phones based on information and complaints registered by various individuals at different Saanjh Kendras.
The drive is being carried out with the assistance of the CEIR Portal (Central Equipment Identity Register), which enables tracking of lost or stolen mobile phones. The responsibility of this campaign has been entrusted to the IT Cell of the District Police Office (DPO), Ferozepur, along with the Special Branch team, Ferozepur.
Due to the dedicated efforts of these teams, 72 missing mobile phones have been successfully traced so far. After proper identification and verification, the recovered mobile phones were handed over to their rightful owners. The police said that the campaign is ongoing, and action is also being taken on other complaints and information received.
SP appealed to the general public that if they find any mobile phone lying unattended, they should consider it their moral responsibility to hand it over to the nearest police station without fear or hesitation. This will help ensure that the mobile phone reaches its rightful owner and prevent unnecessary inconvenience and financial loss.
