Chandigarh, February 23, 2026: Reacting to the alleged ₹590 crore fraud linked to IDFC First Bank, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday asserted that the state government acted promptly and ensured the public money remains secure.

Following the irregularities, the government decided to transfer the entire amount, along with applicable interest, to an authorised bank to safeguard the funds.
Saini further revealed that IDFC First Bank had written to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in its defence, reportedly attributing the issue to an employee’s fault.
The matter has now been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Vigilance Department for a thorough probe. “We are examining the seriousness of the issue. The investigation is ongoing. The money is completely safe and will definitely be recovered,” he said.
The Chief Minister also made it clear that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty, adding that even the bank would face consequences if any institutional fault is established.
