Chandigarh, March 2, 2026: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to immediately establish a dedicated helpline for Punjabis stranded in Middle East war zones and initiate evacuation measures through a special airlift once air routes reopen.
In a public appeal posted on social media, Majithia expressed concern over Indians reportedly stranded at Dubai International Airport and across Gulf nations including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait amid escalating regional tensions.
He highlighted that among those affected is an educationist couple from Bathinda who urgently require assistance. Majithia called upon the Indian government to coordinate closely with diplomatic missions and ensure that stranded citizens receive immediate help.
The SAD leader also appealed to the Indian Consulate General in Dubai to extend financial support and arrange proper accommodation for affected individuals until safe evacuation can be ensured.
Stressing the urgency of the situation, Majithia demanded swift intervention by the Ministry of External Affairs to safeguard Indian nationals and facilitate their safe return home once commercial air operations resume.
