Dubai (UAE), March 4, 2026: An Indian tourist stranded in Dubai has sought urgent assistance through a post on X, highlighting repeated flight cancellations, high ticket prices and difficulty reaching the Indian Embassy helpline. The post was shared at 2:03 PM on March 4, 2026, by Jayesh Thakkar, a SEBI Registered Research Analyst.
In his message, Thakkar stated that he has been stuck in Dubai for the past three days and claimed that, contrary to some assumptions, stranded travellers are not being provided complimentary hotel accommodation. He wrote that free stay facilities are reportedly available only for passengers in Abu Dhabi, leaving others to arrange accommodation at their own expense.
Thakkar further alleged that repeated attempts to contact the helpline number issued by the Embassy of India in Dubai have gone unanswered. According to the post, he dialed the number over a hundred times without receiving assistance.
The stranded traveller also raised concerns over flight bookings. He said flights from Dubai to Mumbai and other Indian cities are visible on booking portals, but reservations are being cancelled six to seven hours before departure. He added that support flights operated by SpiceJet and IndiGo from Fujairah to Mumbai are priced between ₹80,000 and ₹1 lakh per passenger, while Emirates fares are reportedly ranging from ₹40,000 to ₹50,000. However, he claimed that even after booking, flights are being cancelled and refund amounts remain blocked for 48 to 72 hours, preventing passengers from securing alternative tickets.
Describing the situation as an emergency, Thakkar mentioned that his father is a heart patient and expressed concern about the stress being caused to his family. He stated that they had travelled to Dubai as tourists and wished to return home without further distress. In his appeal, he requested readers to tag responsible authorities and relevant officials to expedite assistance.
