Dera Baba Nanak (Punjab), March 21, 2026 - Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said once the SAD formed the government in 2027 it would create a Rs 50,000 crore tourism hub at the Thein dam.
Addressing a mammoth gathering here as part of the party’s Punjab Bachao campaign along with senior leader Sucha Singh Langah, the SAD president said the tourism hub would provide much needed employment to the youth of the region besides giving a boost to the area’s economy.
He also announced that the SAD was committed to giving a special package to encourage establishment of industry in the border belt of the State.
“These incentives will include cheaper power and tax concessions besides creating employment as we will stipulate that all industries will have to keep 75 per cent Punjabis on their rolls”. He also announced that the SAD was committed to creating an IT hub in Amritsar which would be a boon for the youth of the entire border belt.
Appealing to the people to support the SAD and shun the parties of Delhi who had always discriminated against Punjab, Mr Badal said the State was denied right to its own capital, half of its River waters were snatched and given to Rajasthan against the Riparian Principle and Punjabi speaking areas were left out while reconstituting it in 1966.
Asserting that the SAD was committed to correcting these historical injustices, Badal said once the party formed the government in 2027 it would stop the flow of water into the Rajasthan canal. “We will construct new canals and take this water to the fields of our farmers”.
The SAD president also exposed the constant lies being uttered by the chief minister.
He said Bhagwant Mann had lied during the Invest Punjab summit that the State had attracted an investment of Rs 1.50 lakh crore during AAP rule.
“Latest RTI information has revealed that the total investment that has come into the State in the last four years is only Rs 2600 crore”.
He also disclosed that the AAP government was about to give women an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month for six months by discontinuing the power subsidy given to the PSPCL for supplying free power to farmers for tubewell operations.
The SAD president also announced that an Rs 10 lakh interest free loan would be offered to youth besides restarting an expanded Aata Dal scheme and raising old age pension to Rs 3,100 per month and Shagun allowance to Rs 1 lakh.
He also announced all farmers bereft of a tubewell connection would be given this facility besides 12 hour power supply in day time, establishment of a World Skill University with its affiliated Colleges in each district and government jobs for Punjabis only.
