Chandigarh, April 18, 2026: Aiming to emerge as a new political force in Punjab, Misl Sutlej has announced that it will contest the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections and field candidates across multiple constituencies.
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, party president Ajaypal Singh Brar said the organisation is preparing to actively participate in the elections with a strong focus on public issues. He emphasised that youth and women will play a significant role in the party’s campaign and representation.
Misl Sutlej, which has been active for the past five years, claims to be working on key issues affecting the state, including unemployment, the agrarian crisis, industrial slowdown, river water disputes, and concerns over cultural identity. The party says its goal is to bring Punjab back on a path of growth while safeguarding its economic and social interests.
Brar also highlighted the response to the “Pura Punjab Lehar” campaign, launched earlier this year, stating that it has received encouraging support, particularly from young people and women across the state.
In a significant development, Kunwar Jagbir Singh joined the organisation. He is the son of late Singara Ram Sahungra. Welcoming him, the party leadership said his entry would strengthen outreach among backward communities and boost organisational efforts ahead of the elections.
Senior leaders including Davinder Singh Sekhon, Hardeep Singh Dod, Jasmeet Kaur Chhina, and Amarinder Singh Toor were also present at the event.
The announcement signals Misl Sutlej’s intent to position itself as an alternative political platform in Punjab’s evolving political landscape.
