16 killed, over 20 injured as bus plunges into gorge in Udampur

Udhampur (J-K), April 20, 2026:At least 16 people lost their lives and more than 20 others were injured after a passenger bus met with a devastating accident in Udhampur on Monday morning.
According to officials, the bus was travelling from Ramnagar when it veered off the road near Jallo and plunged nearly 100 feet into a deep gorge before overturning. The impact of the fall caused severe casualties among the passengers.
Rescue teams, along with local authorities, rushed to the spot and launched an emergency operation to evacuate the injured. The victims were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, with several reported to be in critical condition.
Officials fear that the death toll may rise as many of the injured remain in serious condition. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident.
